How to adjust the sensitivity of an automatic door sensor

Edor | 2023/02/14

The sensitivity of an automatic door sensor refers to its response level to external signals, that is, how far it can detect an object and respond. If the sensitivity of the automatic door sensor is not set properly, it may cause the automatic door to malfunction or work unstably.

Most automatic door sensors come with a sensitivity adjustment switch, which is usually located on the control panel of the sensor or on the sensor itself. The switch is usually a knob or a toggle switch with three levels: high, medium, and low. By adjusting this switch, the sensitivity of the sensor can be adjusted. If further adjustment is needed, a small screwdriver can be used to adjust the small screw on the switch.

When adjusting the sensitivity of an automatic door sensor, the following points should be noted:

  1. Turn off the power to the automatic door first to ensure safety.
  2. Choose the appropriate sensitivity level based on the use of the automatic door and the surrounding environment. For example, for automatic doors installed in high-traffic areas, a high level can be selected to ensure that the sensor responds and opens the door in a timely manner.
  3. Be careful not to over-adjust the sensitivity. If the sensitivity is set too high, the automatic door may be triggered unnecessarily, which can affect the lifespan and effectiveness of the door. If the sensitivity is not high enough, the sensor may not respond in time, affecting the normal use of the automatic door.
  4. After adjusting the sensitivity, it is necessary to test the automatic door to ensure that it can respond correctly at the right time. If there are still issues with the sensitivity of the automatic door sensor, it is recommended to contact a professional technician for inspection.
